Building Debris Netting & Bridge Guide

Estimate building debris netting rolls for a facade or bridge, then review code scope and project design checks.

Use the roll estimator

Estimate debris netting rolls
Enter dimensions for a whole-roll baseline. Seams, openings, and attachment design need separate review.

Optional project allowance, chosen by you; it is not a standard requirement.

Rectangular whole-roll estimate; openings, seams, offcuts, and support design are not modeled.

Quantity planning result
An estimate from the entered dimensions and roll SKU, not an engineered safety or compliance decision.

Review the example inputs, then calculate.

The estimate gives a baseline roll layout. Use the project drawings and supplier cutting plan to confirm seams, waste, openings, and attachment details.

Decision summary

Five checks before ordering building debris netting

For facade or bridge work, check the takeoff, applicable code, and project-specific attachment and wind design before ordering.

Start with the drawing takeoff

Measure each rectangular facade or bridge area and enter the supplier roll dimensions. Confirm openings, seams, returns and cutting plans separately.

Match the product to the debris

Compare the required opening, product test evidence, edge construction and roll size against the project specification and supplier data sheet.

Check fire requirements by jurisdiction

NFPA 701 is a test method. Confirm whether the adopted code, permit, contract or authority requires a flame-retardant product and which test evidence is accepted.

Have the scaffold reviewed for netting loads

Netting can affect wind loads. Use product permeability data and project conditions in the scaffold design; generic tie spacing is not a safe substitute.

Keep debris and fall protection separate

Debris containment and personnel fall protection are different systems. Specify and verify the system for the hazard it is intended to control.

Building debris netting specifications

Product selection and required evidence

Netting specifications vary by product and project. Compare the supplier’s actual data sheet and test reports with the debris hazard, code requirements, scaffold design, and installation plan.

Structural wind design

Wind effects and scaffold design inputs

Netting changes the scaffold configuration and can affect wind loads. The outcome depends on site exposure, geometry, temporary stages, and product permeability; a qualified designer must determine the project tie and anchor requirements.
